While some restaurants, bars and cafes are closed, many remain open to serve as snacks. Whether you're staying at home or taking a break from cooking to support local businesses, here are five restaurants that are a safe way to pick up dinner during the week.
The Tex - Mex grill restaurant at 604 Colby Street in Whitehall has 48 seats. Station Grill, a current contestant on MLive's "Best Burger," offers its typical burger from Tuesday to Saturday - and a variety of other options.
A special touch of the classic is the naan pizza, which mixes ingredients to make a buttered flatbread. Take an onion or pizza filling out of the oven and try it with garlic bread or try a chicken and cheese pizza. Give a team of two the chance to complete a "colossus challenge" consisting of a colossus - a burger the size of a burger, a buffalo chicken sandwich, and a burger-cheese sandwich - in one. The menu consists of a mixture of burgers, sandwiches, fries, salads, burgers and more, with a salad and garlic bread to complete the meal.

While very few Meijer stores were converted to other retailers, the chain's stores were originally built in Flint. Built in the 1960s and 1970s, including the now demolished Michigan Avenue and Michigan Street location that marked the chain's entry into Flint Market in 1972, the stores included balconies that contained a variety of food and beverage options, as well as retail and restaurant space.
Another feature of the shops was the silver-colored windows and doors, and it was the different shapes and facades that Meijer brought to Indiana after the store was discovered.
The Howard site will serve Green Bay, while the Grand Chute site will serve Appleton and Fox Cities. A third location opened in Marquette in 2018, and Meijer hopes to open a store in Effingham, Illinois, in 2021. Two more locations will open in Kentucky in 2018 and 2019, with another opening in April 2018. A third Kentucky location, on the corner of South Main Street and Kentucky Avenue, opened in May 2019 and has since expanded to two locations in Kentucky, one in Lexington and one in Kentucky.
Four such stores will open in Michigan in 2018 and 2019, two more in 2020 and one in 2021. In addition, four such stores will open in Indiana in 2019 and 2020, and two in Kentucky in 2025.
The first Indiana facility will open in 2018, with two more to follow in 2019 and 2020 and two in 2021. Meijer will expand into northern Michigan with the opening of its 33rd location near Traverse City, which is still open today. The company plans to expand to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 2020 and 2021, with three more stores in Michigan and one in Kentucky. Each store focuses on a different brand: Sagebrush sells casual clothing, Tansy sells women's clothing, Copper Rivet sells Levi's jeans and Sage Brush sells casual wear. Some clothing chains have broken up in recent years as branded clothing is more easily available from competing retailers.
In the 1980s, Meijer founded a discount pharmacy chain called Spaar (Dutch for "save"), which opened four stores in former Meija supermarkets in 1980. After some cuts, in 2005 the company began to try to increase the number of shops and the size of its grocery and pharmacy stores. It opened several concept stores and also turned some of those stores into flagship stores - status stores that have large food departments and serve to test new foods.
The company commissioned the Rockwell Group of New York City to redesign the existing stores and design the new stores. PR firm, redesigned the organization's website and logo, invented discussion points and campaign literature, and wrote ghost letters to newspapers in Traverse City.
According to the PR firm, an organization called Acme Taxpayers for Responsible Government formed a recall committee and began promoting the recall. Meijer retained the help of former Michigan State University law professor John Spaulding, who helped organize the recall.
